Personal Emergency Contact Service

What Is the Personal Emergency Contact Service?

The Personal Emergency Contact Service is a community service initiative supported by First Memorial Funeral Services® providers to ensure that the people you feel closest to will be contacted in the event of an emergency.

The program allows emergency response professionals (such as police, hospital staff, etc.) to obtain vital contact names in the event of a serious accident or sudden illness. Having immediate access to information known by your contacts could make the difference between life and death. This is especially true when the emergency occurs away from home.

But this is only one aspect of the program. Should your accident or illness be fatal, your contacts will have ready access to trained First Memorial Funeral Services® funeral directors.

This program is available at NO COSTor obligation. It is a free community service.

What happens when an emergency occurs?

  1. An emergency response professional (doctor, nurse, police, etc.), calls the Emergency Contact phone number displayed on your identification card.
  2. Our Personal Emergency Contact coordinator provides the emergency response professional with the contact information of family and friends you have pre-selected.
  3. The emergency response professional (doctor, nurse, police, etc.) calls those on your emergency contact list for background information and to invite their personal support.

How does the program work?

If an emergency occurs, your identification card informs authorities that you are a member of the Personal Emergency Contact Service. It advises them to contact the emergency response hotline listed on your card. Emergency Response personnel are available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

When an emergency call comes in, the Emergency Contact coordinator will provide pertinent information from your file. Health-care or emergency personnel will then be able to call the individuals that you have pre-registered as your contacts and advise them of the situation.

Once informed of the situation, your pre-approved family members and friends can share vital information and provide the necessary support.

How do I enroll?

At your request, a First Memorial Funeral Services® provider will help you complete an enrollment form. You provide the names and contact information for the family members and close friends who you wish to have contacted in the event of an emergency.

In keeping with our corporate privacy and communications policy, those on your list will be advised of your wish to record them as emergency contacts. You will automatically receive an identification card to be carried in your wallet or purse for reference by emergency personnel if needed.
